X5 to enter Far Eastern market 2023, raise store chain to 20,000
MOSCOW, Oct 2 (PRIME) -- Grocery retailer X5 Retail Group plans to enter the market of Russia’s Far East until 2023, and to increase the chain of stores to over 20,000 units, CEO Igor Shekhterman said on Friday.
“Until 2023, we will continue our eastward development to be represented in all eight federal districts. We will have more than 20,000 stores,” he said.
Shekhterman also said that X5 intends to raise its share of Russia’s grocery retail market to 15% from the current 11%, and the share of online retail sales to 20% by 2023.
